Written Paper (60 pts.)
1. Reading the assigned outbreak case and understand key points
2. Look for at least 6 reference/sources (One of the sources must be A Primary Paper/Source). The sources for your paper must come from reliable publications (No Wikipedia!). The reference/sources should be listed as references in the end of the paper (APA Formatted Reference).
The reference information obtained from http://www.easybib.com/reference/guide/mla/general. You may use this website for information regarding other types of resources for your term paper ie: Books, dictionaries, etc.
3. Your Research Paper should include information as followings:
1) Title (you assigned outbreak case title)
2) Your name
3) A brief description of the case study you were assigned (at least ½ a page)
4) General background on the organism/virus (including biological characteristics, morphology, symptoms of the disease, treatment, prevention, complications, etc.).
For Example, if you were assigned Methyciline resistant Staphylococcus aureus, you need to state the biological characteristics and morphology of the S. aureus, what the name of the disease/condition in your case study is, other conditions caused by the organism, what the symptoms of disease are, treatment including current medications/antibiotics being used, prevention, complications, and relevant information related to the case study. E.g. what does methyciline resistance mean? What is the process involved in bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics?
5) Answers to the questions on the case study (no limit space, you should try to your best to answer the questions).
Answer to the questions given to you as part of your case study should be added to your paper with the proper and correct answer to it.
6) References: The list of references (APA Formatted Reference). (The reference pages are not part of your 6 pages).
7) Attachment: Primary Source Article (turn in with the written paper) (not part of your 6 pages paper)
The article you choose should be related to the Microbiology topic you were assigned. E.g. Methyciline resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
-Select a recent research Journal article (not older than 2 years).
-The Primary Source Article should be no longer than 15 pages.
-At least a 1/2 page of your paper should include a summary of The Primary Source Article.
-Attach a copy of the article when you turn the due research paper
(Papers will not be accepted without the copy of primary source article)
4. Paper’s format:
A. Paper includes all items as mentioned above.
B. Paper should be no less than 6 pages (including 1-2 page used to answer questions on case study).
C. Pages should be numbered. Typed, 1.5 time spaced on letter size paper. Use 1-inch margins
D. Grammatically and typographically correct, neat and clean.
E. References are listed on the last page (and this page is not part of your 6 pages paper).
F. Reference should be prepared with the complete citations (Author (s), date, title, name of the Periodical, Volume, issue number and pages.). Do not include author’s degrees on your citation.
H. Primary Source Article will be attached.
5. Papers will not be accepted without photocopy of primary source article. A hard copy of the primary source will be turned in with the written paper on the day the paper is due!
6. Late papers will get 5 pts. off for every late day beyond due date.
7. Hand in a hard copy to the instructor on the due date. Also, Email me E-copy of the written paper AND PPT on the due date.
8. Outbreak Case study is turned in with your primary source article!
