Without net neutrality, ISPs may reduce some content or web site speed in favor of some websites. Many companies pay internet service providers to get premium promotions for their content, such as the high bandwidth and network speed (Greenstein, Peitz & Valetty, 2016) to compete with others. Despite the non-monopoly design of the Internet, large corporations exploit ways to benefit their rivals. There should be a law that should be a common place for all companies or organizations to deal with the content equally. It avoids monopoly and gives smaller companies the chance to offer their services.

Net neutrality also affects online learning (Lisa and others 2017). Hawker, Mason & Morgan (2007) claimed that negative learners could experience structural imbalances when there is no net neutrality. Increasing net gap (Hawker, Mason & Morgan, 2007) increases the gap to get content, despite attempts by the United States government to empower the backward people of online education. Most of the rural areas suffer from digital dessert illness. To overcome this problem, local governments offer proposals by providing fiber optic high-speed internet services, while contrary to state legislation that protects broadband companies (Melendez, 2015).

From the progress of the Internet, there are no boundaries to access information. In fact, the Internet has been discovered to share knowledge and information along with the Internet without the same limitation. Internet is part of our daily life. We rely on it for many things and access information as it is open source and easily accessible. We can access any content we need on the internet that is legal and it is important that there is no partiality or favoritism towards some content on the net.

The digital market has grown over the last two decades as the internet was a fair market ground for all the competitors. If net neutrality is not in place then all the information might not be available to the users. This could result in suppressing of messages that the ISP’s don’t agree with or charge more for faster access to the required information. Net neutrality ensures that service providers should provide same access to all the data, websites without being inclined to specific ones and reap profits.

Net Neutrality allows all the users to upload and access information they need without any service disruption from telecomm companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast. Net Neutrality shouldn’t be considered as an option, it is a requirement to keep internet open and free. It is essential to express our views in our society on various aspects like educational, opportunities or our opinions on political issues.

After my research I believe that net neutrality will lead to IT efficiency by making sure that the information is available to the businesses fairly. If there is no net neutrality the telecomm companies can tie up with large companies and stifle with the growth of small businesses. They can also charge more from businesses for providing faster access to the websites or applications or the users to access all the information they want which is like digital extortion. Hence, companies like Comcast and AT&T are against net neutrality as they cannot meddle with the availability of information over the internet while all the other companies are in favor of net neutrality as it ensures that all the network content travels at an uniform pace. This allows for new startups to enter the market and motivates existing businesses to make their businesses better and ensures the customer satisfaction. without net neutrality our personal data is at risk as well as all the voices of the minorities will never be heard.
