Let’s spend some time thinking about the neurobiology of love! Read the article entitle, “Intense, passionate, romantic love: a natural addiction?” by Fisher, Xu, Aron, & Brown (2016) [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4861725/ ] and answer the following questions. Part 1) What does romantic love have in common with substance use disorders? Specifically, describe how these two situations relate in terms of neurotransmitters and brain activation. Part 2) The authors propose that socially-rewarding experiences (like romantic love) could be therapeutic for other types of addictions. What sort of evidence do the authors present to support this notion?
