Design a Group Therapy Program: In order to demonstrate the ability to utilize information taught during the course, students will be required to create their own group therapy program to address a clinical issue, and population, of their choice.
The final presentation on the group therapy program will include, at the very least, the target population, the clinical issue to be addressed, the reason that this clinical issue was chosen, an overview of available background information on the clinical issue (which requires reviewing the research/professional literature on the particular issue, as well as on the application of group counseling to that particular issue, if available), how clients will be recruited for the group, an informed consent agreement for the group, the number of group meetings that will take place, the format of the group, anticipated problems that might be encountered with the group, and a schedule of activities/meeting topics that will guide the course of the group. It is expected that you will provide some significant detail about the activities or topics that you plan to cover for given sessions.
The group therapy programs will be presented in the form of class presentations during the last four scheduled classes, which will include a presentation of the review of the literature pertaining to the clinical issue. A list of the references used in creating the group will be provided to the instructor at the time of the class presentation, as well as a copy of the informed consent agreement.
Checklist for Presentations on Group Therapy Program (40 points):

- A brief overview of available background information on the clinical issue. What is the need/justification for the group’? Why would group therapy be a good format for addressing this clinical issue’? Please provide a minimum of five references that you have reviewed for this. A list of the references used in creating the group will be provided to the instructor at the time of the class presentation. (10 points)
- What is the target population for the group? Why? (1 points)
- How will clients be recruited for the group? (1 points)
- Will there be a pre-group screening and selection process, and what will you look for? (I point)
- Will there be any preparation for the group, and what will it consist of? (1 point)
- What are the therapeutic factors to be addressed within the group’? (1 points)
- What is the anticipated size of the group? (1 point)
- Will the group be open or closed? Why? (1 point)
- Provide a sample informed consent/disclosure statement for the group. (I uploaded a sample) (2 points)
- What group norms will you anticipate helping to create, and why? (1 points)
- What is the anticipated number and frequency of group meetings that will take place? (1 point)
- What is the format of the group (psychoeducational, support group, etc.)? (1 point)
- What are some anticipated problems that might be encountered with the group or with group members, and how might they be addressed? (1 points)
- Provide a suggested schedule of activities/meeting topics that will guide the course of the group. What would you hope to focus on for each group meeting, and how will you focus on that? (10 points) (For example, is there going to be every week group session? And why?)
- Overall quality of presentation. (5 points)
Notes:
- This is for a power point presentation so I need you to not to only do the short descriptions or the points for each slide but also what to say for each point. Do you know what I mean? Please let me know if you don’t understand.
- I chose to do a group therapy program for international students who have adjustment issues.
- While you are working on the paper please inform me about the background literature you will find for the clinical issue (which requires reviewing the research/professional literature on the particular issue, as well as on the application of group counseling to that particular issue)
- I uploaded each class content files. There are 8 classes’ texts so far, that I scanned. Please check them, they are pretty short but really important.
- The classes’ contents I uploaded are very important for finding the correct suitable answers my professor asks for. The checklist that the professor provided is not for a general understanding of what her questions mean. They are very deep on the counseling/clinic meaning/concepts. So it’s very important that you understand these lessons and their terms and also search for more suitable completion for information. If you have no idea about the class or won’t read the lessons, I would appreciate that you don’t do this paper.
- The course name is Group Counseling if you need to know.
- I study Master but I want the words to be written in a high-school level, NOT CONTENT LEVEL.
- This paper is really important; I will present it and a lot of grades will be counted on it.
- For the Sample of Disclosure Statement, it should be in a separate document of two pages. You can find a sample of a Disclosure Statement attached. Please don’t follow all the heads in the sample. Just cover the following heads without an introduction:
- Group Counseling
- Theoretical Orientation
- Nature, Purpose and Goals of the group
- Group Services to Be Provided
- Roles and responsibilities
Please don’t write the heads, I don’t want these words to be counted. I will add them later.
