Overview
In Module Four, the student will read about managing organizational structure and processes in intelligence organizations.

Module Outcomes:

By the end of this module, the student will be able to:

• Link strategic competency and organizational design in intelligence organizations.
• Examine the behavioral implications of different organizational designs in intelligence agencies.
• Assess the role of technology in work design and creating high performance organizations in the intelligence organization system.
• Identify the issues related to power and political behavior in intelligence agencies.
• Contrast the types of communication to enhance information sharing in intelligence organizations.
• Evaluate elements of the decision making process in intelligence agencies.

Module Activities:

Students will read Chapters 3, 11, and 13 of the required text.

There are two written assignments: The first paper which you will work is due at the end of Week 7. The second is due at the end of Week 8.

Week 7 Paper: Examine the elements of a High Performance Organization (HPO) and a Learning Organization.  Explore how information technology contributes to making an organization a high performance organization and a learning organization.  Select an organization represented by one of the team members, examine the role of IT as a strategic capability and prepare a set of recommendations to use IT in order to make the organization a High Performance and a Learning Organization.  The report should be in 1750 to 2850 words.

Week 8 Paper: Prepare a 1450 to 2250 essay on decision-making.  Focus on experiences with group decision-making and identify one very successful and one very unsuccessful experience.  Identify and discuss the reasons for the group’s very good or very poor performance, drawing from concepts in the readings.
