\nProject Title: The Load-Carrier Assignment in the Transportation Procurement of Petroleum Products
\nProblem Statement:<\/p>\n
The Project deals with selecting a set of carriers that should be assigned to the existing load to be covered by a shipping company. These kind of problems arise within the procedure of procurement of transportation services over an extended network. The focus will be on the Omani context and the application field will be related to the distribution of petroleum products.
\nObjectives:
\n1. To understand the Load-Carrier Assignment and to survey the existing models in the context of petroleum products distribution
\n2. To develop an optimization model and implement it with Excel\/Lingo to solve the Load-Carrier Assignment Problem
\n3. To apply the developed model in order to solve a realistic application related to the Omani context<\/p>\n
Approach and Phase:
\nPhase 1
\n\u2022 Review the state of the art in the context of Load-Carrier Assignment Problem
\n\u2022 Identify the specific petroleum distribution problem to be studied<\/p>\n
Phase 2
\n\u2022 Develop an optimization Model able to solve the Load-Carrier Assignment Problem
\n\u2022 Carry out experimental results to validate the model and
\n\u2022 Solve the problem for a specific real-life application from the Omani industry context<\/p>\n
