Consider some of the following questions for your discussion this week. You, individually, do not have to cover them all. Choose one and dig a little \u2013 research; offer new information that was not required reading.<\/p>\n
Culturally, who were the authors (Cr\u00e8vecoeur and Jefferson)?
Where did they fit into the history of America; what did they contribute?
List passages where the authors link farming and citizenship.
Consider the rhetoricPreview the documentView in a new window the authors use.
Where did they use exaggeration or hyperbole? Where does it sound intentional?
Make comparisons or contrasts to the readings from the European Chapter.
As always, discuss how this literature contributes to our understanding of the farm and farmers.

Ask interesting, thoughtful questions pertaining to the topic

Grading will be based on the same rubric as posts on your blog. You should develop original, complex ideas that go beyond surface reading (we\u2019ve all read the same thing, so a simple review is not what I\u2019m looking for).<\/p>\n
Introduce fresh material, This may require additional research.
Each post should be written as a complete thought.
Identify your topic
Narrow the topic by telling your audience your point of view on a specific point
Show your audience what you mean by offering evidence
Conclude
A good test of whether or not it is a complete thought is if you can remove it from the discussion and have it still make sense
