In the new organisations the manager\u2019s role shifts from devising ways to control behaviour to that of understanding organisations so people\u2019s potential contribution can be maximised.<\/p>\n<p>Most experienced managers will acknowledge that it is not a deficit in rational planning which often scuppers plans, but the complexities of human behaviour intervening when attempting to put schemes into action. An effective manager is able to motivate people from different backgrounds and to act as a catalyst in creating and implementing change.<\/p>\n<p>This course is designed to introduce you to selected topics in the field of organisational behaviour. We hope to do so in a way that provokes you to reflect on yourself and your experiences of working with others and on the important subject of managing people in organisations.<\/p>\n<p>You will be asked to actively reflect on the group process and the models and theories using the QOIT process.<\/p>\n<p>The OBIC programme is fundamentally about people and so most of the material we shall cover can assist in your personal and professional development, as well as having applications post MSc.<\/p>\n<p>AIMS OF COURSE:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To provide an introduction to the individual and the group in the organisation \u2013 how and why people differ and to introduce frameworks that aid interpersonal understanding, communication and relationships.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To introduce the idea that different forms of learning are possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To introduce the importance of feedback.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To introduce the notion of personality and its application.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To introduce the concept of psychological and cultural diversity in organisations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To consider the importance of relationships at work.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To introduce the concept of group dynamics and effective teams, and allow you to experience and reflect on group processes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To enable an exploration of different leadership styles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To provide an introduction to power, politics and influence in organisations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 To provide an opportunity to use the assessment process to reflect on the materials covered in the module.<\/p>\n<p>This assignment should be supported by our MBTIs, BELBINs and learning styles of my team members and how we interacted during our work together.<\/p>\n<p>BACKGROUND READING:<\/p>\n<p>Belbin, <a href=\"http:\/\/R.M\">R.M<\/a>.
