{"id":63,"date":"2017-06-21T09:03:38","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T09:03:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/typedessays.com\/slime-mold-revolutionary-paper\/"},"modified":"2017-06-21T09:03:39","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T09:03:39","slug":"slime-mold-revolutionary-paper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.benedictsol.com\/blogs\/slime-mold-revolutionary-paper\/","title":{"rendered":"Slime mold revolutionary paper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The revolutionary science we will consider this semester will be a mashup of several ideas: 1) Quantum effects in biological systems, 2) Intelligence in slime moulds, 3) Consciousness, and 4) Anesthesia. \u00a0All of these areas independently have large unknown areas and many controversies surrounding current theories but there is some overlap and this is where we may be able to innovate. \u00a0There is a\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/earth\/story\/20170215-the-strange-link-between-the-human-mind-and-quantum-physics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">recent BBC (February 16, 2017) article<span class=\"screenreader-only\">\u00a0(Links to an external site.)<\/span><span class=\"ui-icon ui-icon-extlink ui-icon-inline\" title=\"Links to an external site.\"><span class=\"screenreader-only\">Links to an external site.<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0about part of the issue that might stimulate some ideas. \u00a0Here we should be thinking outside the box but mainly\u00a0in directions that have\u00a0some observation or theory that hints at revolutionary promise.<\/p>\n<p>Like most revolutionary science, this project will take more thinking than doing. \u00a0After considering the ideas that I will present to you in class you will brainstorm some insightful questions, a unique hypothesis, and design simple but elegant experiment to test it. \u00a0You will run the experiment and write a scientific short paper on the subject and a reflection on the process. Simple. \u00a0The timeline will depend on your process but you should shoot to have it done in the first 2\/3 of the semester to meet the ultimate deadline.
