Overview
\nIn this course, you have explored the relationship between technology, society, and the individual. It is important to recognize the influence and impact that
\nemerging technology can have and what that means for individuals in all disciplines.
\nTechnology has a pervading influence on many aspects of society, and how that is dealt with requires diverse knowledge and perspectives to investigate and
\nchange. Across many disciplines, the ability to investigate and then articulate a plan to inspire change is often necessary to achieve personal and professional
\ngoals. The purpose of this project is to examine the role of technology in modern society and how it impacts individuals through the development of a plan that
\naddresses a local or global problem relating to technology. The project is divided into four milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the
\ncourse to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Three, Five, and Six. The final product will
\nbe submitted in Module Seven.
\nIn this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:

\nFor this project, you will choose a local or global issue that pertains to technology. The chosen issue should also relate to one or more of the topics that have
\nbeen addressed in this course (technologies\u2019 influence on relationships, policies and regulations, identity, gender, health, social class, etc.). In this presentation,
\nyou will explain the issue and how it pertains to technology and provide a plan of action for addressing this issue. This plan includes recommendations for
\nimprovements as well as strategies and a plan for implementing the recommendations. You will develop your plan as a multimedia presentation that includes an
\noral component. This oral component should be audio that accompanies a PowerPoint presentation. You will be required to provide written speaker notes that
\ncorrespond with your presentation.
\nBe sure to support your answers with appropriate evidence. You are encouraged to conduct interviews with individuals who are involved in or affected by the
\nissue you are addressing, but this is not required. Relevant and appropriate research is also acceptable.
\nSpecifically, you must address the critical elements listed below. Most of the critical elements align with a particular course outcome (shown in brackets).
\nI. Introduction: For this part of the project, you will examine the role of technology in society and how it influences aspects of culture and the individual.
\nYou will explore a topic that has been discussed in this course (technology\u2019s influence on relationships, policies and regulations, identity, gender, health,
\nsocial class, etc.) to help guide your analysis.
\nA. Analyze how social practices have shaped technology and how technology has begun to shape social practices. In other words, how has
\ntechnology changed the everyday operations in modern societies? [IDS-403-01]
\nB. Analyze the influence of technology on society as a force for social change. [IDS-403-01]
\nC. Using relevant research or diverse perspectives, assess how emerging technologies have brought about societal issues. [IDS-403-06]
\nD. Analyze how technology has influenced the behaviors and operations of individuals in your discipline of study or area of interest. In other words,
\nlook at the influence of technology through the lens of your discipline. [IDS-403-01]
\nII. Issue: For this part of the project, you will introduce the issue and how it relates to technology and any of the topics that have been discussed in the
\ncourse.

\nIII. Plan: For this part of the project, you will offer recommendations, a plan to improve the issue, and strategies for implementing your plan.

\ni. Is there new or updated technology that could be used to address an issue associated with older or outdated technology?
\nii. Could the technology associated with the chosen issue be used in different ways to address the issue?

\nIV. Conclusion: For this part of the project, you will conclude your presentation by examining the role of technology in society and how it influences aspects
\nof culture and the individual.

In preparing your multimedia presentation for submission, remember to include Section IV of your project, which was not included in previous milestones. In this section, you will present your concluding thoughts on what is gained by studying technology. Also, be sure to review and address all of your instructor\u2019s feedback from previous milestone submissions.
\nSubmit your multimedia PowerPoint presentation as well as a separate Word document containing your speaker notes. The oral component of the presentation should be 8 to 12 minutes in length.<\/p>\n
Your multimedia presentation (10 slides minimum) with audio elements must be accompanied by 6 to 8 pages of speaker notes. The notes should be submitted in a Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. The length of this presentation (including all audio elements) should be 8 to 12 minutes.
