In this project option, you will be expected to conduct a comprehensive literature search and survey,
\nselect and study a specific topic in one subject area of data mining and KDD, and write a technical
\npaper on the selected topic all by yourself. The technical paper you are asked to write can be a
\ndetailed comprehensive survey on some specific topic or the original research work that will have
\nbeen done by yourself.
\nRequirements and Instructions for the Technical Paper:
\n1. The objective of the paper should be very clear about subject, scope, domain, and the goals to be
\nachieved.
\n2. The paper should address the important advanced and critical issues in a specific area of data
\nmining and KDD. Your research paper should emphasize not only breadth of coverage, but also
\ndepth of coverage in the specific area.
\n3. The research paper should give the measurable conclusions and future research directions (this is
\nyour contribution).
\n4. It might be beneficial to review or browse through about 10 to 15 relevant technical articles
\nbefore you make decision on the topic of the research project.
\n5. The research paper should reflect the quality at certain academic research level.
\n6. The paper should be about at least 25 to 30 pages (double space) or 2500-3000 words in length.
\n7. The paper should include adequate abstraction or introduction, and reference list.
\n8. Please write the paper in your words and statements, and please give the names of references,
\ncitations, and resources of reference materials if you want to use the statements from other
\nreference articles.
\n9. From the systematic study point of view, you may want to read a list of technical papers from
\nrelevant magazines, journals, conference proceedings and theses in the area of the topic you
\nchoose.
\n10. For the format and style of your research paper, please make reference to GSCIS Dissertation
\nGuide, IEEE or ACM journal articles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/form>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
