BSP025 Business Environment Analysis: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You may take one of the following roles: 1) an entrepreneur planning to start-up a venture, 2) a strategy analyst working for a corporation or an investment bank. Taking a specific role will help you identify a specific business question or problem where business environment analysis can provide you insights that you can use for a decision or a recommendation. <\/span><\/p>\n

A suggested outline for the report<\/strong> could be as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>What is the \u201cbusiness\u201d question \u2013 What is the study trying to achieve? Why did you choose it? For example, you may be interested in expanding or launching a business and would like to know whether the business environment is favourable or not. <\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>What is the relevant business environment \u2013Introduce the specific macro and operating environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Using a suitable analysis tool (e.g. PEST) to identify the key issues in the macro business environment<\/strong>. You should use data and evidence to explain what underlie them. Explore the implications of these issue to your business question\/problem. <\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Using a suitable analysis tool (e.g. 5 Forces or 4 Links) to identify the key issues in the operating business environment. <\/strong>You should use data and evidence to explain what underlie them. \u00a0<\/span>Explore the implications of these issue to your business question\/problem.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>You integrate your analysis of external and internal business environments to offer your<\/em><\/strong> recommendation and insight. This section will be about making a persuasive case about a specific recommendation or course of action.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Appendices (any information you could not put in the main text of the report because it would affect the flow).<\/span><\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>References (Harvard style). <\/span><\/p>\n

This final report should be approximately 5000 words and will count towards 90% of your final module mark<\/strong>. The deadline for the assignment is 9 May 2018<\/strong>, before 14.00.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a run up to the final report, you will do a 5-minute presentation<\/strong> of the problem, the analysis, and the recommendation in week 8 (dates and time slots will be confirmed). This presentation counts towards 10% of the final module mark<\/strong>. This presentation will be based on a draft business environment analysis (see suggested outline below for individual components). <\/span><\/p>\n

The assessment comprises of two outputs: a presentation and a final report. The presentation comprises of 10% of the total grade whereas the final report comprises of 90% of the final grade. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
