The emergence of New Zealand – from a collection of sovereign tribal entities to a nation state – took place over a relatively short period. This assignment will allow you to examine some of the milestones on the country\u2019s path to nationhood, and to consider their overall significance.

\nChoose six major developments in New Zealand’s history that were important to its evolution as a nation.

\nWrite a brief introductory statement (no more than 100 words) outlining the main reason(s) you feel that these six events were important to New Zealand’s national development.

\nWrite around 1000 words on the details of this topic, including:
\n1. The background to each of the events or developments
\n2. The development itself
\n3. Its significance to New Zealand’s emergence as a nation
\nFinish the essay with a conclusion (around 100 words) which sums up the main points relating to your chosen events and their overall significance.
