The course is a seminar and not a lecture.<\/li>\n<li>The second enforces, but also aids, the first. You are to write and post \u201creaction\u201d memos to the course readings. You must do this for at least two of the sessions in each module (i.e. at least 6 in total). These memos need not be long \u2013 a page or two at most \u2013 and they are \u201cgraded\u201d only for seriousness (i.e. you can react; we\u2019ll talk about this on the first day). They are to posted to Courseworks by midnight the Wednesday before class. Their purpose is to force you to engage actively with the material before you walk in the room and, at the same time, to allow us and others to have some sense of the different reactions people have to the assigned readings. We do not require you to write and circulate memos each week, though you are welcome to (it\u2019s a good habit!), only because we know that you have lots of demands on your time and sometimes it may be all you can do to get the reading done and you just won\u2019t have time to circulate something by the deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For reading memo: choose 1 from 3 options<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>summarize each readings<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2.pick up passage in each reading you think it is important and discuss it , and why this is important?<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>point out your question in each reading, and where you don&#8217;t understand. point the helpful and unhelpful parts in each reading. but don&#8217;t criticize them!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sociology reaction (reading memo) 9\/13\/18 Module A1 (Meadow): Choosing a Focus [Meet at 4:10] Small, Mario. 2009. \u201cHow Many Cases do I Need?
