Remember that this is the topic you would like to pursue in your GD Workshop courses next year.
Although it will be most beneficial to choose a topic that you can focus on for the rest of the individual project assignments in this course, you do have the option to refine, redevelop or completely change the one you already developed. Remember that some shifting or refinement is inevitable and indeed useful.
To refine your direction you can think of the elements that are missing from your original statement. You can also evaluate whether you still feel it is an interesting direction. For instance, does it still produce more interesting questions for you?
REWRITE (optional) your 100 word summary of this direction in order to better match your goals.

Develop your RESEARCH QUESTION specific to this method
DEVELOP a research question to specifically guide the creation of your focus group or co-design process.
WRITE a concise question (max 30 words) that pinpoints exactly what you don?t know but wish to find out through this research.
CONSIDER the direction articulated in Step 1 by thinking about the key audiences, stakeholders or communities that are affected or impacted by your topic.
LIST the different audiences affected (list 3 to 7 groups)
LIST what knowledge you might want to gain from these groups (list 1-3 items).
CONSIDER the relationship between you, your audience and the project.
Taking into account the relationship between you, your audience and the subject matter, Consider the advantages and disadvantages to gaining knowledge through a focus group vs. participatory or co-design.
Which of the two methods would you choose to use, and why (one paragraph?relate to your subject matter and audience).
CHOOSE which method you would like to use: Focus Group or Participatory/Co-Design

If you chose FOCUS GROUPS:
DEFINE the purpose of your focus group (exploration, development, systematic research, evaluation) (30 words).
DEFINE your criteria for inclusion and exclusion in the focus group. (1-3 items)
Establish a space that will be appropriate for your group and the subject. Outline any accessibility issues or needs relevant to your group. (150 words)
DEVELOP an outline for your focus group. Include timing, and a description of each question or activity. (1 page)
REFLECT on the focus group method.
WRITE a 250 word summary describing how you think this focus group method helps you understand your audience. Using concepts and terms covered in this module (including lectures) describe how this method produces knowledge of about the world.

If you chose PARTICIPATORY/CO-DESIGN
DEFINE your criteria for inclusion and exclusion in the co-design group. (1-3 items)
DESCRIBE what barriers exist for participation and how will your logistics work to overcome these? (150 words)
DEVELOP an outline for your participatory sessions. For each session, outline the goals and outcomes to take you through from concept to completion.
