\n A major focus of this course is to analyze systemic forms of power, that is, to understand the\n <\/div>\n
\n ways in which our society\u2019s institutions shape our economic, political, and social relations. Using\n <\/div>\n
\n race, we examine the ways in which race is defined, given me\n <\/div>\n
\n aning, and has important\n <\/div>\n
\n consequences through systemic processes. Race is not important simply because of the attitudes\n <\/div>\n
\n and actions of individuals, but because of the combination of systemic processes and individual\n <\/div>\n
