MISY3310 Research: Interview Questionnaire\/MANAGMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS<\/p>\n

Purpose: To expose students to the uses of information and communication technologies (ICT) by real people working in
real organizations. To improve course offerings by universities to better prepare current and future workers.
Skills to be Developed: Interviewing, asking questions, taking notes, oral and written communication skills, and
observation of people and organizations in action.
Directions: Each student is required to interview at least THREE interviewees using the following 12 questions and any
other ICT related questions of the interviewer\u2019s choice. Interviews can be conducted face-to-face or through telephone, fax,
e-mail, or other channels. Answers to the questions must be summarized in a paper that each student will write for
MISY3310 and the findings must be presented to the class. The research paper will need to be submitted as an assignment
item through Blackboard and turned in as a printed, single-spaced, double-sided paper on the due date.
1 What does your organization do? Which industrial sector of the economy does your organization operate in? What products
or services does your organization sell? Who are your customers?
2 What is your role or job title in your organization? What tasks do you perform under your job in your organization?
Describe the role of ICT in performing your job tasks.
3 Describe how data in your organization are captured, stored, retrieved, and used to support the operations related to
production of goods or services by your organization.
4 Business Intelligence is the exploration or mining of business data in search of meaningful patterns. Describe how your
company collects and uses business intelligence for decision making.
5 All individuals and organizations collect, store and use knowledge to perform different job tasks or procedures. Describe the
role of computers on how your company captures, collects, stores, disseminates, and uses organization-related knowledge.
6 Customer Relations Management (CRM) is an important component of marketing. Describe the role of computers on how
your company captures, stores, retrieves and uses data to manage relationships with customers.
7 The laws of system entropy, natural disasters, acts of terror and computer crime are but some of the things that can destroy
an organization\u2019s information flow and storage. Explain how your company is protecting itself against these mishaps.
8 Describe your thoughts about the ethics of your company\u2019s policies, practices and procedures related to collection, storage,
sharing, and use of data about customers and employees.
9 What laws, if any, do you think should be made to better protect customers and employees from abuses of personal data
stored in organizations? Please explain your thoughts.
10 How does your company use information and communication technologies (ICT) to compete against other companies?
Share your ideas about how ICT could be used by your company to gain a competitive advantage.
11 Describe how your organization uses ICT to facilitate integration of different functional areas such as accounting, finance,
production, management, marketing, human resource management, and other internal processes of the organization so that
the organization can function as a whole and does not disintegrate into its component parts and processes.
12 Describe how your company uses ICT to sell its products or services over the Internet.
