Due date: Friday, May 5th No papers will be accepted after the scheduled Final Examination date\/time for this course.<\/p>\n<p>Instructions<br \/> Use one of the texts we\u2019ve read this semester and for which we\u2019ve written essays (\u201cThe Birthmark\u201d by Nathaniel Hawthorne, \u201cThe Lottery\u201d by Shirley Jackson or \u201cBarbie Doll\u201d by Marge Piercy) to write a literary analysis research paper in which you apply one of the critical theories discussed (and explained below). Your paper should explain how the assumptions and strategies of the particular critical theory you select are demonstrated through the text.<\/p>\n<p>Steps<br \/> Select a text and essay<br \/> Select a theory<br \/> Conduct research to find:<br \/> literary experts that address the text you\u2019ve chosen<br \/> scholarly experts that address the literary theory you are employing<br \/> Consider other texts (short stories, novel excerpts, poems, etc \u2026) that are similar to the text you are analyzing or may be compared to add to your discussion (optional)<br \/> Using the essay you\u2019ve already written, seek to implement a discussion of literary theory to expand the essay, turning it into a literary analysis research paper<\/p>\n<p>Guidelines:<br \/> Paper must be 4 \u2013 5 pages in length<br \/> Do not include a cover page<br \/> 12 pts.
