\nEssay #1: Ecology<\/p>\n
The world is facing a variety of ecological problems that have the following general form: an established practice, whether on the part of business and industry or on the part of the public, is contributing to serious health problems for a large number of people. At the same time it would be costly to modify the practice so as to reduce the health problem. Choose such a problem to research.
\nPeople often say that the answer is one of achieving a “balance” between the amount of money we spend to correct the problem and the number of lives we would save by that expenditure. Discuss and develop this idea in terms of your topic.
\nDevelop a point of view and some plausible criteria for telling how one would determine this “balance.” Make sure you address any dilemmas inherent in your strategy for solving such problems.
\nEssay should be 4-5 pages and should incorporate two pieces of research from the Mesa Library databases.
\nThe draft is due for peer review no later than Friday, June 24; the final is due by July 1. You must participate in peer review to earn credit for your paper.

\nDid the research contain confusing, incomplete or contradictory information?
\nExplain how your research influenced your thinking.
\nIf your thinking has changed, what changed it?
\nIf your thinking has not changed, how did what you learned support your original opinion?
\nIf you’re not sure about your opinion, what information might you need to form an opinion?<\/p>\n
Conclusion (generally 1 paragraph)
\nThe conclusion rounds off the essay.
\nRefer back to your main ideas or points and reiterate your answer to the question.
\nNEVER introduce new information in your conclusion.
\nThe conclusion moves from specific to general.<\/p>\n
My point of view is that we have to make drastic changes and avoid \u00e2\u20ac\u0153 balance\u00e2\u20ac because we no longer have balance on the environment and government and societies have not done much to accomplished goals to solve problems such pollution. We continue to say that it would cost too much to make changes but when we no longer have clean water, we are going to look back and say: we should have paid for the changes. What then is the remedy? There surely cannot be any radical solution, for the existing factories cannot be bodily lifted to a place far from the populated zone. However, the following attempts can be made to solve the problem of environmental pollution.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 The Government can at least see that future factories are set up at a distant place, an industrial complex far away from the township.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Researcher may find out how to avoid harmful smoke from running vehicles.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Deforestation should be stopped and Forestry should be developed.
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Discharge of Factory wastes in rivers should be banned so as to make the river-water free from pollution.
