You should be in a position to clearly understand the project and key<br \/> details of the project including (but not limited to) type of building (or structure), location, overall<br \/> cost, primary and secondary project objectives, key stakeholders, design details (size \u2013 area, plan<br \/> shape, height, specification etc.), among others. You are required to apply VM to the selected<br \/> project (or a component or element of the construction project selected). The application of VM can<br \/> be at Value Planning, Value Engineering or Value Analysis stage depending on the nature and state<br \/> of the development of the design. You may use any approach to VM in executing and applying VM<br \/> principles to the project. This assignment should demonstrate your understanding of VM principles<br \/> and its application to projects and is written in a manner to showcase the use of VM in construction<br \/> projects as a way to improve value characteristics of the project.<br \/> You are generally expected to follow through the following process identified.<br \/> ? Identify an application area (whole project, building, structure, element, component etc.)<br \/> and define the objectives of applying VM. i.e. explain what do you want to achieve through<br \/> application of VM.<br \/> ? Explain the process of VM application clearly going through the stages of the Job Plan (in<br \/> VM). Explain in detail how each stage is executed and apply techniques required.<br \/> ? You are required to provide:<br \/> o Project brief<br \/> o Problem analysis<br \/> o Alternative solutions considered<br \/> o Critical evaluation of alternative solutions<br \/> o Use of value matrix, FAST or SMART or other appropriate technique<br \/> o Detailed development of the solution<br \/> o Final proposal recommendation<br \/> o Analysis of benefits and risks<br \/> o Implementation plan<br \/> Bachelor of Construction Management<br \/> School of Computing Engineering & Mathematics 2 | P a g e<br \/> ? You are required to write a final report incorporating all of the above aspects. The report<br \/> would be appropriately referenced and produced in a professional manner as a professional<br \/> report to be presented to the building client of the project.<br \/> ? The full report should also include a short literature review indicating relevant literature on<br \/> VM and providing information to justify the use of VM in improving value characteristics of<br \/> the project concerned.<br \/> ? Demonstrate the use (or knowledge) of using the Australian \/New Zealand Standard<br \/> (AS4183: 2007 Value Management) and also compare with NSW Treasury Value<br \/> Management process.<br \/> Approach<br \/> You are required to form your own groups of 5 and report to the lecturer as to the formation of your<br \/> group. Detailed instructions of how you report group formation will be provided to you at the time<br \/> of handing of the assignment.<br \/> Submission Requirements<br \/> The final report should be submitted via Turnitin on the due date.<br \/> Assessment Criteria<br \/> The following and the Marking Criteria rubric indicate the assessment criteria used for this<br \/> assignment:<br \/> VM review (20%)<br \/> Problem analysis and alternative solutions (15%)<br \/> Evaluation of solutions and development (30%)<br \/> Understanding of the VM process (15%)<br \/> Report writing and presentation (20%)<br \/> (Style of writing, overall presentation, referencing, citations, general structure, readability,<br \/> group approach, use of figures and tables and cross referencing)<br \/> Bachelor of Construction Management<br \/> School of Computing Engineering &
