These kinds of employees think for a living and they include engineers, physicians, scientists, lawyers,<br \/> accountants and architects among others (Pyoria , 2005) The kind of work they do is considered as non-routine problem solving which requires a combination of<br \/> convergent, divergent and creative thinking. There are many definitions that scholars have ascribed to knowledge workers including all employees involved in the<br \/> production and distribution of knowledge products. Others have interpreted knowledge work as the direct manipulation of symbols to create an original knowledge<br \/> product. These kinds of workers spend a good chuck of their time searching for information, up to 40%. They are in most cases displaced from their work stations, their<br \/> work driving them to other places. The more the workload the more the information required. These people normally earn high salaries and they have a lot of<br \/> independence when it comes to their work. These kinds of employees require some level of autonomy and managing them may be a difficult task as they don\u2019t like being<br \/> supervised. Their managers are in most instances knowledge workers themselves.
