You may choose a single data set (e.g. a stock price) or a number of data sets (e.g. population numbers over time in four major cities.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Use<\/b> the following sites as suggestions for data sources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/2010census\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Census data<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewinternet.org\/Data-Tools\/Download-Data\/Trend-Data.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Internet usage data<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eia.doe.gov\/overview_hd.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U. S. Energy stats<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Create<\/b> two professional graphs or tables. One should tell an accurate view of the data and information, and the other should showcase a contradicting story. Refer to techniques such as those in the Misleading Statistics document provided within course materials. Use the same data set, but create a different graph, chart, or table.<\/p>\n<p><b>Write<\/b> a summary comparing the results of the graphs in no more than 525 words explaining the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The source of the data<\/li>\n<li>What story the data is telling the reader<\/li>\n<li>The reasons for which you used certain graphing or charting techniques (e.g. line graph instead of a bar or pie chart)<\/li>\n<li>Different or contradictory story being told<\/li>\n<li>Ethical implications of altering the aesthetics of the graphic<\/li>\n<li>How technology is used to create graphs and clarify business communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Submit<\/b> two graphs and two summaries in one Microsoft\u00ae Word document.<\/p>\n<p><b>Format<\/b> your summaries consistent with APA guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><b>Click<\/b> the Assignment Files tab to submit your assignment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Resource:&nbsp;Misleading Statistics Choose a data source and create a graph or table that illustrates a story behind the data.
