A particular focus on relevant environmental practitioner requirements in<\/p>\n<p>industry is provided. it focuses upon common commercial pollutants and the systems that govern<br \/> their control and management in the workplace also considering the policy and legal basis.<\/p>\n<p>Practitioner management techniques and methods are provided with the objective of developing<\/p>\n<p>competence in assessing and managing workplace environmental aspects to improve legal<\/p>\n<p>compliance and environmental performance.<\/p>\n<p>M.Sc. Learning Outcomes<\/p>\n<p>On complete of this module, successful students will be able to:<\/p>\n<p>1. Critically explain and evaluate the core components of environmental management systems<br \/> as they relate to principles of pollution prevention.<\/p>\n<p>2. Critically analyse and assess the environmental risks associated with common commercial<br \/> and industrial processes.<\/p>\n<p>3. Critically evaluate the main environmental management requirements based in legislation, and<br \/> the roles and functions of environmental regulators.<\/p>\n<p>4. Exhibit applied competence in management techniques in the assessment and management<br \/> of the environment to improve environmental performance.<\/p>\n<p>5. Critically explain the concept of Best Available Technology (BAT) in the context of industrial<br \/> environmental management; and appraise the process of management and control within the<br \/> context of pollution prevention.<\/p>\n<p>M.Sc. Syllabus:<\/p>\n<p>Introduction to Environmental Management Systems- principles, benefits, ISOl4000\/EMAS,<\/p>\n<p>management techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Critical risk analysis and assessment of commercial pollutants in the environment (water,<br \/> waste, air and soil) and key principles of pollution prevention and related legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Environmental Performance \u2013 Objectives and Targets; Auditing and Operational<br \/> Control. Stakeholder Engagement &amp; Business Case<\/p>\n<p>Pollution Prevention Control Licensing and the role of the Environment Agency<\/p>\n<p>Legislation \u2013 BAT principles \u2013 Licence Application Requirements \u2013 Monitoring Requirements<\/p>\n<p>M.Sc.
